The neck, also known as the cervical spine, is made up of seven vertebrae (C1 through C7) that support the skull and connect the spine to the rest of the body. These vertebrae are separated by discs that act as shock absorbers. The neck also contains numerous muscles, ligaments, and nerves that provide movement, stability, and transmit signals to and from the brain. This structure allows the neck to move in various directions, including bending, straightening, twisting, and side to side.
